Welcome Home

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I want to share my life, experiences and immense love of God with the world while providing encouragement and reminders of God’s promises.  There’ll be a good mix of topics discussed, from cooking and raising children to the daily struggles of leading a Christian life. I am excited to share my journey with you. God bless you!

Who am I?

Or rather, who are we? There will be MANY times throughout this blogging journey that I will say “our” instead of “my” or “we” instead of “I”… this is simply because I view my husband and myself as one unit. We are a team and even though I will be the sole contributor to this blog, his input can be found throughout almost all of the pages on this site. He is my best friend and I run everything by him. So, apologies if you get confused about the switching up of pronouns, but they do serve a purpose.

I love God. I love my family. In that order. You might raise an eyebrow to that, but it’s true. We have chosen to put God right in the middle of everything in our life. He has become the basis for all decisions we make. “Will this please God?” is an incredibly common phrase to hear in our home. Now… I won’t lie to you – it hasn’t always been that way. It wasn’t until this last year that we really took a hard look in the mirror and decided it was time for real change… The last couple of years have been rough for many people, but they’ve been years of awakening and refining for my family. They were years filled with tears, but so much hope and love. We brought home a beautiful baby boy in 2016. We’ve worked very hard on our marriage. We started really communicating better about our finances. And we reignited the flames in our hearts for God. God has been so good to us.

I want to leave you with a simple prayer that helped us through many of our hard times as we were beginning the painful process of opening our hearts to God once again:

“Dear God,

You are good.

I need help. Heal me and forgive me.

They need help.

Thank you.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

This prayer saved my sanity more times than I can count. It is so simple, once you get the hang of it, you can elaborate on the ideas. This prayer, when you are in times of extreme stress, can calm you and remind you of what’s important. It can remind you that even though you need help, healing, and forgiveness, there are others that need God as well. And there are always things to be thankful for! It really puts things into perspective. Simple and sweet.
